Thanks for your comment Richard. Looking at your site it looks like you may want to have a play with HTML5's new canvas features. Loads of stuff there.

We all try to think the same it'll make the Web better for everyone.

Great examples; and a well thought post. have to say I agree with you on most points.

Personally, I will try my best wherever possible to meet the demands of the designer. If the designer comes up with an idea / concept / design, then I will do whatever it takes to make sure it works as close as possible in all browsers.

If however, I see the opportunity to use some CSS3 or jQuery, I would consult with the designer and client and say; "how about we add this for modern browsers?". In my eyes, we've met the design we promised the client and that the designer envisaged, but have also gone the extra mile and added some "posh" to liven things up a little.

Our clients are mainly IE users, and I agree that a little bit of education is needed but I unfortunately don't have the power to persuade clients to upgrade. we have though dropped support for ie6, which made me very happy ;o)

Until then, I will keep pushing for us to be more open with our clients and I will keep enhancing progressively.

Thanks for your comment.
Funnily enough, this is the first bit of script I tried. Problem is, keeping the head area in tact while hiding the area underneath. Using this simpler bit of code would be great, however, all it will do is hide the link when you click it, leaving the rest of the divs in place.

you could simply have done the following:

$('.slidetease').click(function () {
 $(this).slideToggle();
});
